The 1989 Mazda 323 GLX is a relatively easy vehicle to maintain but is more recommended to those capable of vehicle maintenance. The engine coolant reservoir is easily visible in the engine bay. This will make it easy to check and replenish the fluid level on a regular basis. Both the front and rear wiper blades are easy to change on this vehicle. Other models will require the use of tools. Checking the oil level with reliability is no problem as the dipstick is easily accessible in the engine bay.

Some things are problematic on the 1989 Mazda 323 GLX. The brake fluid reservoir is not easily visible in the engine bay. This will make it hard to check and replenish the fluid level on a regular basis. You will have to remove Phillips head screws to gain access to the parking light on this vehicle. Other models will not require the use of tools for this repair. You will need more tools than usual, and a longer reach than usual, to change the engine air filter.
