The 2000 Honda Civic EX is a moderately easy car to maintain, and a good choice for the average car owner. To replace the engine air filter with reliability, you only have to disengage a few fasteners for access. These fasteners are no problem to disengage. The components of the spare tire are easily accessible on this vehicle. This keeps the tire and jack kit ready to go in case of emergency. Checking the oil level is easy to do, as the oil dipstick is easily accessible in the engine bay.
Some things are tougher to maintain on the 2000 Honda Civic EX. To access the parking light, you will have to reach through the wheel well lining on this vehicle. This lining can grow rigid and tight to the vehicle over time. You will have to remove a few screws to access the reverse light on this vehicle. These screws can grow rusted to the vehicle over time. The battery bracket can be tough to remove, as the bolts that secure the bracket are located in a tight spot in the rear of the engine.
