The 2006 BMW 530XI is a very difficult car to maintain, and is only recommended for someone experienced in car maintenance. In order to access the petcock for a reliable coolant drain, you will have to remove a large panel from under the vehicle first. This is a problem, as you will have to contend with gravity to complete. The battery is located in the rear of the car. This cramped location can make it hard to work with or remove the battery, and you will need many tools to complete. Checking the brake fluid level is extremely complicated. You will have to remove an air filter, and other panels, in order to reliably access the reservoir.

Some things are easier to fix on the 2006 BMW 530XI. Changing the engine air filter is easy to do, as you only have to disengage a few fasteners in order to access. These fasteners are easy to disengage. The tail light bulbs are easy to access, as you only have to remove one panel in the rear of the vehicle for reliably access. Checking the power steering fluid is no problem, as the fluid reservoir is easily accessible in the engine bay. This will allow you to keep an eye on the fluid level on a regular basis.
