Common problems and easy repairs on a 2004 SSR

The 2004 Chevrolet SSR is a moderately difficult car to maintain, but shouldn’t be too problematic for someone experienced in car maintenance. Some of the more reliably difficult repairs on this car are the battery, headlight, and spare tire. The battery is located underneath the vehicle. This can make it tough to access, or remove, as you will have to contend with gravity as you work with it. To access the headlight, you will have to reach through the wheel well for access. This is a tough reach, and will require a tool, in order to complete. This vehicle does not come equipped with a traditional spare tire; instead, it comes with a compressor kit for pumping your tire back up. This can leave you stranded in case the tire cannot hold air.

Some things are easier to maintain on the 2004 Chevrolet SSR. The fog light is easy to access, as you only have to reach under the vehicle, and behind the bumper, for access to the bulbs. Access for the tail light bulbs is similarly easy, as you only have to reach behind the rear bumper for access to the bulb. The engine coolant fluid reservoir is easily visible in the engine bay. This will allow you to check and replenish the fluid level on a regular basis.
