Car Displayed: 2004 Ford Freestar SEL 4.2L V6

The 2004 Ford Freestar SEL is a relatively easy car to maintain, and a good choice for the average car owner. Access for the cabin air filter is extremely easy, as you only have to remove one cover for access. Other models make this much more problematic. Checking the oil level with reliability is also simple, as the oil dipstick is easily accessible in the engine bay. Removing the battery is made quicker by the easy to remove battery bracket. Other van’s brackets are more difficult to remove.

Some things are tougher to do on the 2004 Ford Freestar SEL. You will have to remove a few screws and reach through the wheel well lining in order to access the fog light. This can be tough, as the lining can grow tight to the vehicle over time. The engine air filter is more complicated to replace on this vehicle than on other vans. You will need a few tools for access, and it is located in a tight space in the engine bay, which leaves you with less room to work. Setting the clock is more complicated, as you will have to follow steps in the dash to complete, and these steps are not very straightforward.
