Consumer Review Video - 2004 Pontiac GTO 5.7L V8

Common problems and easy repairs on a 2004 GTO

The 2004 Pontiac GTO is a moderately difficult vehicle to maintain, but is recommended to those capable of vehicle maintenance. You will have to remove a large panel from under the vehicle for access to the oil drain plug. This will require you to contend with gravity as you complete. Changing the headlight with reliability will require the use of a few tools which you may not have readily available. You will also need to use a few tools for access to the engine air filter.

Some things are easier on the 2004 Pontiac GTO. Checking the transmission fluid level is easy to do, as the dipstick is easily accessible in the engine bay. Not every model includes this dipstick. Changing the fog light is no problem, as you only have to reach under the vehicle for access to the assembly. The engine coolant reservoir is easily visible in the engine bay. This will allow you to check and replenish the fluid level on a regular basis.
