Common problems and easy repairs on a 2013 Tiguan
The 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan S is a moderately difficult vehicle to maintain, and is only recommended to someone capable of vehicle maintenance. You will have to remove many torx bolts, and a large panel, from under the vehicle in order to complete a coolant drain. You will have to contend with gravity as you complete. To access the reverse with reliability, you will need to complete many steps, and use many tools, to remove the rear bumper for access. Changing the engine air filter is more problematic than usual, as you will need to loosen many torx bolts to complete.
Some things are easier on the 2013 Volkswagen Tiguan S. Removing the headlight is no problem, as you only have to reach behind the housing for access to the bulb. The engine coolant reservoir is easily visible in the engine bay. This will allow you to check and replenish the fluid level on a regular basis. The components of the spare tire are easily accessible in the rear of the vehicle. This keeps the tire and jack kit ready to go in case of emergency.
